About me
As an integrative counsellor, I draw on a range of modalities in the conviction that there is no single correct way of doing therapy, there is only that which is useful. Key to my practice is the building of a supportive, non-judgemental environment in which you and I are able to build a mutually trusting relationship.
I am a qualified counsellor and a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). This means I have met their strict criteria for qualified and experienced therapists and work in accordance with their ethical guidelines.
My Approach
I have worked as a counsellor / psychotherapist since 2010 across the NHS, public, charity and most recently private sector, offering both individual and group therapy.
Since moving to Berlin I have undergone further training in the field of value based counselling (VBC), perinatal mental health and in trauma therapy, including practitioner training in EMDR.
Key qualifications:
MA, Philosophy and Modern Languages, University of Oxford (2007)
Certificate of Higher Education in Counselling, University of London (2010)
Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling, University of Manchester (2012)
MA, Integrative Counselling, Leeds Beckett University (award expected 2025)
My Background
Therapies Offered
Counselling can be short-term, solution focussed, or involve more long term, in-depth work. Some people find they just need a few sessions to clarify their situation and perhaps make a decision about a particular problem, whereas others benefit from a longer term approach.
As an integrative counsellor, I draw on a range of modalities. I would say my practice most closely resembles a person centred approach, but I can also borrow from other schools of thought such as psychodynamic or a cognitive behavioural intervention according to what is most useful to you, the client. Key to my practice is the importance of building a supportive, non-judgemental environment in which we are able to build a trusting relationship.
Unless we agree otherwise, I see clients for a 50 minute session, once a week. I am a firm believer that it is the relationship between clients and counsellor which is the most important element of counselling, so I offer an initial half hour appointment at no charge during which we can establish whether we feel we can work together.

* As a private practitioner, I cannot accept Krankenkasse or public health insurance, but some private or international insurers will cover individual therapy, so do check with your own provider. I have a limited number of slots reserved for unwaged individuals, so if this applies to you, please get in touch.
Person Centred
Key to this approach is the belief that you, the client, are the expert in your own life. My role is to support you in discovering your own solutions and insights, promoting personal growth and self acceptance.
Psychodynamic
Together, we will examine patterns in your thoughts and relationships, explore when they began and how they are currently affecting your present life. I can support you in gaining a better understanding of the unconscious conflicts and desires currently influencing your behaviour and emotions.
Cognitive Behavioural
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) works by addressing the interplay between thoughts, emotions and behaviours. We will discuss tools and strategies for breaking the cycle of unhelpful cognitions and behaviours which are negatively impacting your emotional and physiological responses.
EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a powerful tool for treating trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder. If you are interested in accessing EMDR with me please get in touch so that we can discuss suitability.
